HERONGEN, Germany, June 5, 2009: German flower auction Landgard can look back on a succesful Mother’s Day sales period. The auction has achieved 1% growth in turnover, which was also 1% growth in volume, and which matches last year's average prices.
 

Landgard’s direct sales-turnover was also comparable to last year. Considering that 2008 brought the German auction a record turnover on direct sales, this year’s results are more than satisfactory.
With regards to import, Kenya and Israel were able to keep their results at the same level, whereas some considerable increases in turnover were recorded for deliveries from Ethiopia and Italy.
The overall picture is a positive one with satisfied suppliers, who in the running up to Mother’s Day didn’t have real high expectations on sales. Given the poor market prices in March and April, suppliers were happy with the prices achieved, which were quite consistent throughout the week preceding Mother’s Day.
