FCI’s founding editor Debbie Hamrick marries Ed Gaines
RALEIGH, USA, July 28, 2010: FloraCulture International’s founding editor Debbie Hamrick and Ed Gaines were married in a civil service June 4 in Raleigh, USA. The bride wore a sleeveless summer dress in a floral print and carried a bouquet of roses, Hydrangea and Echinacea assembled by world renowned floriculture expert, Dr. John Dole, who was assisted by John Buettner.  Both Dole and Buettner witnessed the ceremony. The groom donned a Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirt.
To celebrate the couple hosted a party showcasing seasonal and regional foods, libations and desserts for out of town and Raleigh friends at their home in June. Extended family helped the couple celebrate at a party in Lumberton in July.
Debbie and Ed will continue to reside at their Fairview Road home with their sheltie, Audrey Hepburn. Neither Debbie nor Ed is changing their name, even though large volumes of mail continue to arrive at their home addressed to Debbie Gaines and Ed Hamrick.
In 1989 Debbie Hamrick founded FloraCulture International with a pilot issue at the Aalsmeer Show that November She served as the founding publisher and developed the project with her joint venture partners Watt Publishing Co. Debbie left FCI briefly from July 1997- summer 1999 to work with Ball Horticultural Company and rejoined FCI and Ball Publishing in fall 1999 as editor of FCI and manager of trade shows/conferences. She departed Ball Publishing in October 2004 to join NC Farm Bureau and work on policy issues in the state of North Carolina. Overall she spent about 14 years w/FC.
With Reed Elsevier shutting down its FlowerTech magazine on December 31st 2009, FloraCulture International remains the leading English business magazine on the world flower industry, which is distributed in more than 142 countries.
